The Toretsk direction is currently one of the most crucial fronts for Russian occupation troops in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by an officer from the 12th Azov Brigade, known by the call sign "Brave," in an interview with Radio NV.

"For the eastern front, the loss of Toretsk poses a significant threat to the initiation of battles and potentially the future capture of Konstantinovka and Slavyansk," the military officer stated.

According to the officer, Toretsk is an essential transportation hub, and although part of it is still under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, it could become a substantial logistical base for the enemy's advances towards Konstantinovka and further along the main routes.

"Therefore, essentially, we were sent to this direction to hold it and prevent the enemy from advancing here," noted Brave.

The officer also mentioned that Russia employs a scorched earth tactic, and any settlement they attempt to enter and capture is leveled to the ground. As a result, a large portion of the civilian population is leaving these cities, but there are still some who remain, mostly elderly individuals who either fear leaving or have nowhere to go. It makes little sense for the military to delve into whether they are waiting or not.

"However, it often happens that we have video materials on our information resources, on 'Azov Media,' where our fighters assist the local population in critical situations, rescuing them from basements. There are times when the threat is very high, and they are even forcibly evacuated," the military added.
