Память Героям Небесной Сотни: что и когда будет происходить.

February 18, 19, and 20 – some of the most tragic days in the history of the Revolution of Dignity and modern history of Ukraine

On February 20, Ukraine will honor the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – the fallen activists who sacrificed their lives in the fight for freedom, democracy, and the European future of the country. Eleven years after those events of the Revolution of Dignity, we continue this struggle. The battle that began in Kyiv on the barricades of Maidan continues on the front lines of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

This is reported by the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity and calls for participation in events and activities to commemorate the Heavenly Hundred – the heroes of the first victory in a battle that is ongoing.

In particular, today, February 18, from 16:00 to 18:00 – Memory March and memorial service in honor of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. After this, a procession will take place at St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral along the route: Mykhailivska Square – Three Saints Street – Khreshchatyk – Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Flower laying and lighting of candles will occur. Organizers: NGO "Families of the Heavenly Hundred," National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, with the participation of relatives of the Heavenly Hundred heroes, participants of the Revolution of Dignity.

From February 19 to March 2, the Museum of the History of Kyiv will host an exhibition titled “Ukraine's Path to the EU.” It is dedicated to the key historical stages of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Renowned artists will present their works. Each piece – be it a painting, poster, or art object – reflects the hopes, struggles, challenges, and achievements of our country on its journey back to the European family. Exhibits provided by the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity will also be displayed.

From February 19 to March 31, a documentary exhibition titled “Maidan Cases: On the Path to Justice and History” will be held on the Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. What investigative cases lie behind the generalized title “Maidan Cases,” what are the results and challenges of judicial proceedings – these are the questions illuminated by the exhibition. Visitors can familiarize themselves with judicial statistics and the chronology of events, as well as learn about the process of memorializing the places where the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred fell.

On February 20, from 10:00 to 11:30, at the Church of Archangel Michael and the Ukrainian New Martyrs (Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, 6, Kyiv), there will be a Ceremony of Commemoration for the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and participants of the Revolution of Dignity.

On the same day, from 11:00 to 12:00, on the Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – “Angels of Memory-2025”: a global silent action honoring the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. This event takes place annually on the Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Dozens of paper angels are hung on the branches of trees that witnessed the shootings of unarmed protesters.

At 12:00 – the opening of the exhibition “Heroes: Maidan, War, Memory…” around the monument in Independence Square. It is dedicated to the participants of the Revolution of Dignity who died during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The exhibition tells the story of the activists of Maidan who changed Ukraine and the world, and during the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war became the first defenders of our country, sacrificing their lives for its freedom.

From 12:30 to 14:30 at the information and exhibition center of the Maidan Museum (Independence Square, 18/2), there will be a musical and poetic meeting titled “Territory of Heroes.”

From 15:00 to 17:00 at the House of Cinema, a film created from the video archives of war reporter Ruslan Hanushchak will be screened. A participant of Maidan, later a military reporter and serviceman with the callsigns “Ostap” and “Photographer,” he died on January 11, 2025.
