In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a lawyer accused of recruiting agents for Russia and defending them in court.

In Kyiv, law enforcement officials apprehended a military intelligence agent from Russia. The individual turned out to be a lawyer who was recruiting new agents for Russia and defending those who had already been exposed in court.
В Киеве СБУ задержала адвоката, который вербовал агентов для России и представлял их в суде.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The investigation revealed that the lawyer was recruited by a Russian GRU officer, Vitaly Naumov, during a personal meeting in Russia back in 2015.

Following the onset of the full-scale invasion, he not only sought new agents and defended them in court but also provided the Russian special services with information about SBU employees mentioned in criminal case materials, exposing traitors, as well as "leaking" procedural documents.

For each task completed, the agent received money from Naumov.

It is known that one of the individuals recruited by the lawyer passed on information regarding the deployment, movement, and armament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv to Russian intelligence. This person has already been sentenced.

What punishment awaits?

Based on the gathered evidence, investigators have informed the lawyer of the suspicion under part 1, 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law. He faces life imprisonment.

The question of choosing a preventive measure for him is currently being addressed.
