This was reported by the State Emergency Service and the police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The accident occurred on the Mukachevo — Lviv highway in the village of Nastashino, Ivano-Frankivsk district.
Police determined that a 20-year-old driver of a BMW 520, a resident of Burshtyn, exceeded the permissible speed limit and veered into oncoming traffic on a curved section of the road.
As a result, he collided with a DAF truck, driven by a 52-year-old resident of Moldova. The crash resulted in the driver and his four passengers dying at the scene.
At the accident site, rescuers retrieved the bodies of two girls aged 15 and 18, as well as boys aged 20, 18, and 16 from the vehicle.
The authorities have initiated a criminal case under part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules resulting in death. All circumstances are being investigated by law enforcement officials.
