In Cherkasy, supporters of the POCU and the UOC-MP clashed as they stormed the church gates, throwing benches at each other during the confrontation.

In Cherkasy, near the St. Michael's Cathedral, a brawl broke out between supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. This incident occurred following reports that the cathedral had transitioned from the UOC-MP to the OCU.

The Cherkasy publication "18000" writes about the fight near the cathedral. Additionally, a video of the brawl close to the church was shared by the people's deputy Artem Dmitruk.

Earlier, military chaplain Vladimir Ridny stated that the St. Michael's Cathedral, which was used by the parishioners of the UOC MP, has transitioned to the OCU. According to him, this church changed hands without local priests.

Subsequently, he reported that this church will become a garrison church and will be open to all military personnel, as well as inviting all church parishioners to a joint prayer in the Ukrainian language.

However, as the publication "18000" notes, following the announcement of the church's transition to the OCU, supporters of the UOC MP gathered nearby, attempting to break into the cathedral grounds. A brawl erupted between them and the supporters of the OCU.

Meanwhile, people's deputy Artem Dmitruk also disseminated a video of the fight in the church and claimed that during this altercation, there was even gunfire between the two groups, and supporters of the OCU allegedly stole money from the cathedral that was collected for the installation of a bell tower and the restoration of the church, along with various valuables.

Dmitruk also shared a video showing that the cathedral's rector, Metropolitan Theodosius, was present in the church, who has already received four suspicions from the Security Service of Ukraine, including for inciting inter-religious discord and denying Russia's armed aggression.

In a comment to hromadske, the press service of the Cherkasy police stated that law enforcement officers are currently working at the scene of the incident, trying to maintain public order. There is no information yet on any detainees or injuries resulting from the brawl.
