Gramada is considered a small mountain resort, popular among tourists, especially during Christmas.
The accident occurred on the morning of December 22, just a few minutes after the plane took off.
According to the National Civil Defense, it first collided with the chimney of a building, then with a house, and finally with a furniture store. Debris also fell onto a local hotel.
At least 17 people on the ground were injured. Most of them were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation from the fire caused by the accident. Two of the injured are in critical condition due to burns.
All 10 deceased passengers of the plane were members of the same family.
Currently, Brazilian authorities are still investigating the causes of the tragedy. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
“I hope for a swift recovery for the injured. The Air Force is investigating the causes of the accident, and the federal government is at the disposal of the state and local authorities to clarify the situation as quickly as possible,” he wrote on X.
