This was reported in the Verkhovna Rada.
The deputy was 59 years old. The cause of his death is unknown.
Before becoming a deputy, Makarov worked as a lawyer in various companies and was also a member of the Kyiv City Council from the "Samopomich" party.
According to data from the "Chesno" movement, he made it onto the list of absentee deputies in the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation. Makarov missed 41% of the votes from the beginning of 2022 until May 2023.
His party colleagues reacted to the news of his passing. Yaroslav Zheleznyak called him "the wisest among us" and thanked him for his advice and assistance: "We will all miss you greatly."
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Daniil Getmantsev, wrote that he had known Oleg Makarov since 1999, "when I lost my first case in the Economic Court of Kyiv to him with a bang."
"Then, now, and forever, Oleg will remain an example of a professional, lawyer, and political figure for me, who, despite everything, remained an honorable person."— he wrote.
