Ukrainian forces have shot down a Russian Su-25 aircraft (UPDATE).

Ukrainian troops from the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign shot down a Russian Su-25 combat aircraft on February 8th.

This was reported by the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

The aircraft was shot down in the Toretsk direction.

“Another Russian attack aircraft has been eliminated in the Toretsk direction thanks to our air defense warriors,” the brigade stated.

Updated at 16:55. Military personnel released a video of the aircraft being shot down and explained that they managed to “ground” the attack aircraft using a portable anti-aircraft missile system called "Igla." The aircraft was targeted by a combined anti-aircraft unit from the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 57th Territorial Defense Battalion.

After the aircraft was shot down, a Russian Mi-8 helicopter attempted to evacuate the pilot, but it was also struck and likely damaged.

“The helicopter, limping, returned and requires significant repairs. The pilot of the enemy Su-25 was left behind,” the 28th Brigade reported.

According to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian servicemen have shot down 369 aircraft and 331 helicopters belonging to the Russians.
