A Ukrainian was injured in an attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is known that the individual involved is a 52-year-old woman. Currently, she is receiving treatment at a clinic in Germany. The Ukrainian embassy in Germany and consuls have been in contact with the clinic and are providing the necessary assistance, as assured by the foreign ministry.

Incident in Magdeburg

On the evening of December 20, a car drove into the Christmas market near the Magdeburg town hall. The regional government quickly stated that it was a deliberate attack.

As of the evening of December 21, there are reports of five fatalities, including a nine-year-old child, and over 200 injured, many of whom are hospitalized in critical condition.

A 50-year-old doctor from Saudi Arabia, who has lived in Germany for 18 years, is suspected of being behind the incident. He was affiliated with the far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) and referred to himself as "the most aggressive critic of Islam in history." He also called for Germany to protect its borders "from illegal migration."

Meanwhile, the prosecution has not ruled out that the motive for the attack could have stemmed from frustration over Germany's treatment of migrants from Saudi Arabia. The police are still uncertain whether to classify this incident as a terrorist attack.
