Currently, a flag is flying at the site where the memorial will be established
A commemorative stone is set to be placed along Kalynova Alley in Holosiivskyi Park, Kyiv, to honor the prisoners of war from "Azovstal," who were killed in captivity at the barracks of the occupied settlement of Olenivka by Russian occupiers.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Council.
The Kyiv City Council noted that Kalynova Alley of Memory for the fallen Heroes from "Azovstal" is currently the only place for many families of the deceased where relatives can pay tribute to their fallen fathers and sons. At the end of last week, the park management, along with the community of families of the fallen, established a flagpole and raised the "Community of Olenivka" flag here.
By the end of this year, a commemorative stone with the names of 54 fallen Heroes is planned to be installed here.
Recall, that on the night of July 29, 2023, one of the barracks of a penal colony in the Russian-occupied village of Olenivka, near Mariupol, was destroyed by an explosion orchestrated by the invaders. At least 54 Ukrainian prisoners of war from "Azovstal" died that night.
