More than thirty Ukrainian media workers are currently held captive by Russia
In Kyiv, on November 4 at 12:00, a photo exhibition will be held at the NSJU to support the Ukrainian journalists imprisoned by Russia and to mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
This was reported by NSJU.
“Today, Russia is unlawfully holding over 30 Ukrainian media workers captive, including five women. Russia has already 'decided' the fate of most of them: prison, penal colony, fines, and silence,” the statement reads.
The NSJU specifically noted that many Crimean journalists are accused by Russia of subversive-terrorist activities and espionage. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the occupiers have been systematically imprisoning captured media workers under charges of “terrorism.” Furthermore, requests from the captives are ignored, and the terms of imprisonment are continuously extended.
“Russia is depriving some imprisoned journalists of the ability to communicate, as it even conceals their whereabouts,” emphasized the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that on October 16 in Kyiv, a large-scale rally took place on Independence Square: relatives of the captured and missing military personnel attended the event.
