Thousands of drones intended for Ukraine are stuck in warehouses in Lithuania, according to LRT.

Thousands of drones that Lithuania pledged to manufacture and deliver to Ukraine are still sitting in warehouses. This was supposed to be completed by the end of last year.

Drone manufacturers are surprised that their products are still sitting in military warehouses. One company from which Lithuania purchased drones states that they were delivered several months ago.

“We have news that we delivered the drones — some in October, some in November, and we haven't received any updates indicating that the drones have arrived in Ukraine,” says Tomas Milasauskas, CEO of RSI Europe.

Journalists quote former Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas, who believes the delay is due to bureaucracy.

“The harm is evident — there is a shortage of drones in Ukraine, a deficit of millions, and if the drones are not in the hands of the military, it means they are losing them — Ukraine is suffering greater losses than it should be,” he argues.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense has already announced that the purchased drones will be sent to Ukraine in the near future. For this purpose, they claim that the government has already streamlined the supply chain.

According to a government decision, the government no longer needs to reconsider the decision to transfer state property acquired with government funds for the needs of another state.

In total, it involves nearly 5,000 drones worth 5 million euros, which were procured for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They were supposed to be delivered by the end of 2024.
