U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not intend to provide "very many" security guarantees for Ukraine.
He made this statement during the first meeting of the cabinet.
According to him, Europe should be the primary guarantor of security, as "it is their (Ukraine's - ed.) neighbor." He emphasized that the U.S. is interested in collaborating with Kyiv on rare earth metals, of which Ukraine has "a lot."
Trump highlighted that American extraction of Ukraine's resources would automatically guarantee security for Kyiv, since "nobody would dare to touch our people when they are there."
In addition, the U.S. president confirmed that the United Kingdom and France are voluntarily ready to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there would be no ceasefire in Ukraine without security guarantees for Kyiv.
