His words are reported by the Washington Post.
“It seems to me… I’m not expressing my opinion on this, but I have read a lot about it, and many believe that the return of all the occupied territories of Ukraine is unlikely,” Trump stated.
Alongside this, the U.S. president suggested that “some territories” could still be regained by Ukraine, although he did not specify which ones.
It is worth noting that earlier, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Gage stated that Ukraine should acknowledge the impossibility of returning to the 2014 borders, as this is supposedly “unrealistic.”
He also referred to the desire to revert to the 2014 borders as a “chase after this illusory goal,” which would “only prolong the war and lead to greater suffering.” At the same time, he assured that his country aims for Ukraine to be sovereign and prosperous.
