The funds were seized during searches

The Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Serhiy Kryvonos, has submitted a complaint to the High Council of Justice requesting disciplinary action against a judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv.

During the investigation into potential abuses by officials within the judicial system and law enforcement agencies, it was revealed that at the end of 2023, this judge made a series of decisions that raise serious doubts about their compliance with legal norms.

According to NAKO, these cases pertain to the return of funds seized during investigations. In the first instance, the judge issued a ruling that allowed money, which had been confiscated during a search, to be awarded to a third party with no connection to these funds. In the second instance, a similar situation occurred: the seized money was returned to another party that had no rightful claim to it. Overall, this involves two amounts: over 4.1 million hryvnias and over 15 million hryvnias.

It is important to note that the judge has previously made similar questionable rulings, which have been the subject of prior complaints to the High Council of Justice.
