Citizens continue to leave the country
Compared to 2023, the number of citizens who left Ukraine and did not return increased by 3.3 times last year. According to official estimates, this figure stands at 443 thousand individuals.
This information is reported by opendatabot referencing data from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
As noted by the SBGS, only three months last year (April, July, and August) saw a positive trend, with more citizens returning to the country than those who left.
Additionally, 4.2 million Ukrainians held temporary protection status in EU countries. There is also a lack of reliable data regarding Ukrainians who left temporarily occupied territories or emigrated illegally.
It is worth noting that according to border guards, following the mass exodus at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the difference between the number of people who left and those who returned amounts to 2.4 million.
