The case concerning the death of Ukrainian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during filming in the United States has reached a conclusion. The prosecutor has decided not to appeal the ruling regarding Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin.

This is reported by Reuters.

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey has withdrawn the appeal filed after the case was closed in July. Baldwin's lawyers stated that this “is a definitive confirmation of what the actor and his attorneys have said from the very beginning — it was an unimaginable tragedy, but Alec Baldwin did not commit a crime”.

To remind, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died on October 21 2021 on the set of the film "Rust" in New Mexico. She was struck by a bullet from a prop gun that was inexplicably loaded with a live round, fired by actor Alec Baldwin.

Director Joel Souza was also injured. He recounted that the fatal incident occurred when Baldwin was rehearsing: he fired at the camera and hit the cinematographer. The script supervisor stated that the actor was not supposed to fire according to the script.

Baldwin immediately announced that he is fully cooperating with the investigation, is in contact with the husband of the deceased cinematographer, and is ready to provide the family with all necessary assistance. The incident has led to several civil lawsuits.

Reports indicated that there had been accidents on set prior, and just hours before the tragedy, seven crew members had quit due to poor working conditions.

Rust Move Productions was fined $100,000 after "serious violations" were discovered by the New Mexico Bureau of Health and Safety. It was found that the company had done little to prevent the incident on set before the fatal shooting, and complaints from crew members regarding safety went unanswered. The production company stated that it plans to contest the findings.
