Defense forces have achieved tactical successes in battles in the Kursk region, according to ISW.

Ukrainian forces have achieved tactical successes in the Kursk direction following the commencement of new offensive operations.

This is stated in the report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Geolocation footage released on January 5 and 6 revealed that Ukrainian forces were able to advance near Berdin, Russkoye Porechye, and Novosotnitskoye.

At the same time, Russian military sources reported that they had successfully repelled an assault by Ukrainian forces near Berdin and Novosotnitskoye.

Additionally, it was reported that in response to the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Russian troops also began to storm Ukrainian positions, striking towards the village of Malaya Loknya.

New AFU Offensive in the Kursk Region

On January 5, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the Russians simultaneously in several directions in the Kursk region of Russia, stated Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). According to him, this took the Russians by surprise.

Russian bloggers also reported on the ongoing offensive by Ukrainian troops, which is taking place northeast of Sudzha towards Velikoye Soldatskoye, as well as heavy fighting near the Berdin hamlet.
