Losses incurred by the capital's budget are estimated at 1.8 million hryvnias
Kyiv law enforcement agencies have reported suspicion against the former head of the Directorate for the Construction and Maintenance of Transport Facilities and Auxiliary Infrastructure of KP "Kyivpastrans".
This was announced by the Kyiv police communication department and the city prosecutor's office.
The official is suspected of embezzling 1.8 million UAH during the renovation of a dormitory for KP "Kyivpastrans" in 2021 and 2022.
“It has been established that in the summer of 2021, officials from the municipal enterprise 'Kyivpastrans' of the Kyiv City State Administration and the contracting organization signed a contract for the capital repair of one of the dormitories of a bus station in the Svyatoshyn district of the capital. Upon completion of the work, the head of one of the departments of KP 'Kyivpastrans', in collusion with the head of the contracting organization, who has already been informed of suspicion by investigators, signed official documents that contained false information regarding the volumes and costs of the work actually performed,” the statement reads.
As a result, over 600 thousand hryvnias of budget funds were unjustly transferred to the contractor's account.
Later, at the beginning of 2022, the department signed another contract with the contractor for additional work in the dormitory.
“All these works were completed by the contractor within a month; however, this time, the official documents signed by the official inflated the volume of work performed by almost 1,200,000 hryvnias,” the police reported.
The official is currently facing charges under several articles of the Criminal Code – part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 366 (service forgery by prior conspiracy) and part 5 of article 191 (embezzlement of budget funds). The sanctions of these articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
