Participants are calling for the suspension of a theater university lecturer accused of sexual harassment
A protest is taking place outside the Kyiv City State Administration demanding the suspension of Andrii Bilous, a lecturer at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after Karpenko-Kary and the artistic director of the Young Theatre.
During the protest, one participant undressed in a show of dissent: police took her into the premises of the city state administration. Following this, several male protesters also removed their clothing.
0 Andrii Bilous is accused of sexual harassment towards female students and actresses of the theater. In January, a video surfaced on social media featuring a girl with her face covered, claiming that after her enrollment in the university, Bilous sent her intimate photos of other students and asked her to send her own.
1 At the end of January, the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television suspended Andrii Bilous from teaching activities. On February 10, coinciding with the protest, the Kyiv police issued a statement announcing the opening of a criminal investigation under Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sexual violence) regarding "possible unlawful actions by a lecturer at the capital university."
2 Bilous's name is not mentioned in the police statement; however, officials indicated that they are currently in communication with students, faculty, and the university administration.
