Russians apprehended North Korean soldiers who fled their positions in the Kursk region. They may be deployed for an assault, according to intelligence reports.

Russians have detained 18 North Korean soldiers who abandoned their positions in the Kursk region. They may be involved in assault operations against Ukrainian forces.

Hromadske reported this from sources within the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

According to the intelligence, approximately 40 soldiers from North Korea, upon their arrival in Russia, trained Russian fighters on the use of balloons for military purposes, while the Russians, in turn, instructed the North Koreans in modern infantry combat.

A source revealed that after the training, the North Korean military personnel were left in a forest area in the Kursk region for several days without food and without any instructions regarding future plans and intentions. Consequently, 18 North Koreans decided to leave their positions voluntarily in search of Russian commanders.

However, just two days later, on October 16, the missing soldiers were found and detained by the Russians. As noted by the intelligence source, the distance from the escape location was about 60 kilometers. All 40 North Korean soldiers, who had been at the previous positions, were relocated to the Lgovsky district of the Kursk region for further involvement in assault operations in Kursk.

North Korea's Involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian War

Earlier, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed that Russia is preparing over 11,000 military personnel from North Korea for the war in Ukraine. They are currently undergoing training and will be ready for combat operations by November 1.

This was also confirmed by South Korean intelligence. They found that North Korean soldiers are currently located in the Middle East. Reports indicate that the North Koreans have been issued Russian military uniforms and Russian-made weapons, as well as fake identification documents identifying them as residents of Yakutia and Buryatia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that North Korea supplies the Russian army not only with weapons but also with personnel. Subsequently, Ukrainian intelligence recorded that North Korea is providing Russia with its people as laborers in factories.
