Russia launched missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, with air defense successfully intercepting some of them.

On January 3rd, within a 24-hour period, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine utilizing several missiles, 32 Shahed strike drones, and various other types of unmanned aerial vehicles. Air defense systems successfully intercepted 3 missiles and 13 drones.

This was reported by the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In the past 24 hours, Russian troops launched:

  • 5 S-300 surface-to-air missiles in the Kursk region;
  • 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles in the Chernihiv region;
  • 3 guided air-to-surface missiles Kh-59/69 in the Dnipropetrovsk region;
  • 32 attack drones.

As of 8:00 PM, the Air Forces confirmed the downing of three guided air-to-surface missiles Kh-59/69 and 13 Russian drones. An additional 19 enemy UAVs were lost to radar detection.

As a result of the shelling in Chernihiv, one person was killed and four others were injured. The occupiers struck residential buildings on the outskirts of the city, leading to the destruction of two residential houses.
