This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
They revealed that a prison employee had been recruited by the Russian FSB and was passing information about former inmates who had joined the ranks of the Defense Forces to the occupying intelligence service.
Specifically, the recruited agent provided personal data about Ukrainian ex-inmates, their release dates from punishment, and the names of the military units where they were carrying out combat missions.
As noted by the SBU, the Russians intended to use this information to locate the Defense Forces and attempt to recruit Ukrainian soldiers.
The perpetrator was caught "in the act" when he was supposed to pass the information to the Russians.
The SBU has announced suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – treason committed in a state of martial law.
Currently, the perpetrator is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
