The President has appointed a new head of the SBU's counterintelligence division.

President Vladimir Zelensky has appointed Andrey Tupikov as the head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.

This information comes from the decree of the head of state No. 900/2024.

There is not much information available about Tupikov. It is known that he is a major in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. His age, place of birth, or education are not specified.

In August 2015, for his courage and heroism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, he was awarded the Order of Daniel of Galicia.

On the website of the scientific journal "Honor and Law," there is a 2017 article co-authored by him and two other authors discussing the role and place of the National Guard in the state security system, taking into account foreign experience. The article description noted that Tupikov serves as the head of the analytical service of the special operations department of the National Guard’s main directorate.

The SBU Counterintelligence Department is responsible for countering intelligence, terrorist, and other activities of foreign state security services, as well as organizations of specific groups and individuals.

From November 30, 2021, to August 23, 2023, this department was headed by Alexander Poklad. In the media, he was referred to as an assistant to the "Regionals" because he assisted politicians from the "Party of Regions" and "Opposition Bloc" on a voluntary basis.

In 2023, Zelensky appointed Poklad as the deputy head of the special service, and in January 2024, he was awarded the military rank of Major General.
