Before the counteroffensive in the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian command post, resulting in significant casualties, according to Zelensky.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that Ukrainian forces successfully executed a counterstrike in the Kursk region. Prior to this, they eliminated approximately 20 Russian and North Korean officers in an attack on a command post.
Перед контратакой в Курской области ВСУ нанесли удар по российскому командному пункту, в результате чего много погибших, сообщил Зеленский.

He stated this in an interview with Reuters.

Zelensky mentions that during the offensive operations, Ukrainian forces managed to advance 2.5 kilometers into Russian territory in just one day, on February 6.

According to the president, after this, the Russians, in an attempt to repel the assault, brought North Korean soldiers back to the battlefield, who had previously been held in the rear for some time. As a result, the Russian side suffered 230 fatalities, Zelensky claims.

“Before that, (…) our forces struck their command post in the Kursk region, resulting in a significant number of officers killed. I was informed that there were probably 20 dead officers, including senior North Korean officers and Russians,” he added.

It is noteworthy that on February 6, six months after the start of the Kursk operation, Russian "military correspondents" reported that Ukrainian troops had begun a counteroffensive in the Kursk region. By February 8, the monitoring project DeepState announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had advanced near the village of Cherkasskaya Konopelka in the Kursk region.
