"Fearless": The Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the story of fallen paratrooper Kobra and his fierce hand-to-hand combat with an occupier.

Soldiers from the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade recounted how Dmitry Maslovsky, known by his call sign "Cobra," engaged in hand-to-hand combat with an enemy armed with a knife to protect his comrades during the operation to clear the village of Trudovoe in the Donetsk region.

This is mentioned in the TCN report.

The video of Dmitry's hand-to-hand combat, which took place in November 2024, was widely shared on social media. During that time, the fights in Trudovoye were crucial for the defense of Kurakhovo, so the fighters had the task of storming the outskirts of the village to strengthen the city's flanks.

However, the mission of Kobra and Khaza, whom Dmitry called in the video, was to cover the rear and monitor the approach of equipment at the observation posts, one of the fighters explained.

While the assault group was clearing the thicket, Russian infantry approached from the direction where Kobra and Khaza were stationed. They managed to eliminate one occupier, and then Dmitry went in search of another.

“Kobra ordered Khaza, with specific specialized weapons, to remain in control of the roadway section […] And Kobra decided by himself, based on his experience; it was a command decision that should be respected,” emphasized one of the brigade soldiers.

As the journalists found out, Kobra was trying to overcome a Yakut from the 39th Guards Brigade of the Russian Federation.

The 71st Brigade explained why Khaza did not hear Dmitry during the battle: “Khaza could not, as he had his own controlled sector, and the distance from where Kobra was located was about 600 meters. Also, keep in mind that two other groups were simultaneously conducting a clearance operation, meaning there was intense gunfire, grenade explosions, and serious cannonade.”

After the battle, the position where Dmitry's partner was located was empty. The soldier had not made contact, and he was already supposed to be reported as missing in action. However, Khaza was eventually found during another assault in the village's basements. He is currently in the hospital and remains in serious condition.

Dmitry Maslovsky hailed from the Odessa region; he had been serving in the army since 2017, and after the onset of the full-scale war, he joined the 71st Mountain Assault Brigade.

“He was hot-tempered, always bold, sometimes a bit too much; he needed to be stopped. He feared nothing or no one,” recounted one of the brigade's soldiers.

He always tried to cover his stormtroopers, so his comrades consider him a heroic fighter. The 71st Brigade nominated Dmitry for the title of Hero of Ukraine last year.
