Ukraine transitions to winter time
On the night of October 26 to 27, at four o'clock Kyiv time, the clocks need to be set back one hour, meaning it will be three in the morning. Devices with automatic time setting will do this on their own.
Every year, the clocks are adjusted twice: on the last Sunday of March – for daylight saving time (one hour ahead) and on the last Sunday of October – for winter time.
For over 40 years, Ukrainians have been changing their clocks in the fall and spring, since the Soviet Union decided to implement transitions between summer and winter time in 1981. Daylight saving time in Ukraine was standardized only in 1996, as noted on the website “Suspilne”. The transitions have always occurred on weekends to allow the body minimal time to adapt.
