The perpetrator turned out to be a repeat offender from Rivne region. Law enforcement in Kyiv has informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime.

The vehicle that caught the attention of the criminal was located at a service station on Veresneva Street in the Darnytsia district.
“Law enforcement established that an unknown man entered the territory of the service station and noticed an unlocked 'UAZ' vehicle, which was undergoing inspection and was to be handed over by the owner for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrator got into the cabin, started the engine, and drove away in an unknown direction,” police reported.
The thief was apprehended within an hour. He turned out to be a 52-year-old resident of Rivne region, previously convicted of property crimes, who had come to Kyiv for a few days.
The investigator from the Darnytsia police department, under the procedural guidance of the district prosecutor's office, informed the detainee of the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal seizure of a vehicle.
The suspect has been placed in custody with the possibility of posting bail, and he faces up to five years in prison,” the Kyiv police communication department commented.
