The event of the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ touches the life of every believing Christian

Today, January 6th, His Beatitude will bless the Dnipro water at the capital's Hydropark after the Divine Liturgy.

As noted by the metropolitan, “through His personal baptism, the sinless Son of God begins His salvific preaching on earth, initiating the healing of human nature damaged by sin. All the Evangelists mention the event of Jesus Christ's baptism by John the Baptist in the waters of the Jordan.”

According to the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, “when the Lord was baptized in the waters of the Jordan, people witnessed the ‘heavens opening,’ saw ‘the Spirit of God descending like a dove… And behold, a voice from heaven said: This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ At that moment, the fullness of the Holy Trinity revealed itself to the world, as until that time it was unknown to humanity. This is the significance of the feast, and that is why we call this day not only the Baptism of the Lord but also Theophany. Thanks to this Theophany and all that the Holy Trinity has accomplished for our salvation, the path to unity with God has been opened for everyone since then. It is solely up to us whether we choose to walk this path and remain on it!”

On the eve of the feast of Theophany, the Baptism of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 5, 2025, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine led the All-Night Vigil at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Golden-Domed Monastery.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was assisted by the abbot of the Golden-Domed Monastery, Archbishop Agapit of Vyshgorod, Bishop Yefrem of Vasylkiv, the honorable brotherhood of the monastery, and invited clergy.

Today, January 6th, after the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude will complete the rite of blessing the Dnipro water at the capital's Hydropark.
