The Ministry of Justice has resumed operations of the initial registries following a major cyberattack.

The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has resumed the operations of three key notary registries following a large-scale cyberattack by Russian forces.

This was reported by the agency itself.

The Unified Register of Powers of Attorney, the Inheritance Register, and the Unified Register of Special Notarial Document Forms are now operational.

Notaries can now fully register powers of attorney, wills, and inheritance cases, as well as verify special forms.

All notarial actions performed without access to the registers will be recorded there within five working days.

The Ministry of Justice emphasized that enhanced cybersecurity measures have been implemented.

About the Cyberattack

On December 20, a large-scale external cyberattack was carried out on Ukraine's state registers, leading to the suspension of operations of the registers under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna stated that the attack was executed by Russians to disrupt the operation of critical infrastructure. Initially, only the state registers were affected by the attack.

Former Justice Minister Dmytro Malyuska noted that most of the information from the state registers targeted by Russian hackers was already publicly accessible. However, the attackers succeeded in destroying the State Register of Civil Status Acts, which is one of the most confidential.
