Kuleba shared his views in an interview with the BBC here.
He mentioned that, as a diplomat, he spent considerable time searching for an answer to the question of whether the war could have been avoided, stating that "if a war breaks out, it means diplomacy has failed."
However, according to the former minister, the war was ultimately unavoidable, and he referred to Trump's assertion that he could have prevented it as "a rather hypothetical assumption."
"I believe this war could not have been avoided, but it could have been delayed. Not for years—perhaps for months, yes," he asserted.
He stated that Putin would have invaded Ukraine, knowing that the West would not respond "appropriately" to his incursion.
Kuleba also remarked that Ukrainians were "fortunate" that Joe Biden was in the White House at the onset of the full-scale war, but claimed that the legacy of his administration was overshadowed by "their own de-escalation strategy."
It is worth noting that during the election campaign and after his re-election, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine would not have occurred had he been president.
He also promised that he could end the war within 24 hours, partly due to his good relationships with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
