According to Prokopenko, throughout 2024, "Azov" was engaged in stabilization efforts in the Lyman and Toretsk directions. The military officer states that in three instances when his brigade took on new positions, it became clear that “the issue is much broader and more complex than just a lack of human or technical resources”.
In the first instance, as Radis mentioned, it was necessary to change the "mix of units from dead-on-arrival brigades." In the second case, Prokopenko advised one of the brigade commanders to bury the excavated strongpoints. However, he did not follow through, and they were subsequently seized by the Russians. In the third case, there was a complete absence of a defense system.
“Right now, we seem to have both equipment and resources, and we are hiring construction companies. But once again, something is off! The answer is very simple. Officers have stopped thinking: either they weren't taught, or people who didn’t conduct reconnaissance of the terrain at that line did the 'thinking' for them, even from a cannon shot away!” — says Radis.
Prokopenko emphasized that without understanding the basics of organization and defense construction, even with the necessary resources, there will be no resilience. The commander of "Azov" highlighted that in such conditions, the enemy will turn all resources to ashes, and they will not fulfill their function of protection and safeguarding the lives of personnel.
