Klichko has suspended his deputy following a journalist investigation into his family's real estate.

Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, has dismissed his deputy, Volodymyr Prokopiv, after journalists uncovered numerous properties acquired during his tenure in the Kyiv City Council and administration. Prokopiv submitted his resignation voluntarily.

Klychko reported on Telegram about the suspension of Prokopiv.

He reached out to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies to investigate the claims made by investigative journalists. Klychko justified his decision to suspend Prokopiv by stating the need for "objectivity" in the investigation.

Prokopiv himself stated that he "never clung to the position of Deputy Head of the KCCA, which is why he submitted his resignation." He mentioned that he has always been open to journalists, thus he spent nearly two hours answering their questions.

Furthermore, Prokopiv added that he is ready for the investigation and asserts: “my reputation and the honest name of my family are important.”

Previously, journalists from Bihus.Info discovered that the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv, during his ten years in high positions within the city's authorities, acquired a substantial amount of real estate. The assets of his close associates also increased.

For instance, Prokopiv's acquaintance Andriy Shturmay registered the company "OP SERVICE" back in 2015, which subsequently acquired apartments and offices in various districts of Kyiv. According to journalists, Shturmay worked at "Ivano-Frankivsk Gas," where he earned a modest salary.

Klychko's mother-in-law, Stella Shturmay, became the owner of a private house in the cottage community "Nova Khodosivka," priced at over $180,000. Until 2018, she worked as a deputy for educational and production work at Art School No. 3 in Ivano-Frankivsk, where she earned no more than 20,000 hryvnias per month.

Prokopiv's wife, Vera, also owns real estate—a commercial space in the residential complex "Teremky" valued at 13 million hryvnias and a three-room apartment in the "Happy House" complex priced at 2 million hryvnias.
