Journalists have conducted an investigation into individuals who provide advice to the Mayor of Kyiv on both a salaried and freelance basis

There are not many, not few — 37 such individuals. All of them have quite interesting backgrounds, which explains the public interest in them. The activities of these individuals and more are discussed in the latest episode of the YouTube project “In the Shadow of the Chestnut”.

One of the advisors to the Kyiv mayor is Oleg Haryaha. He serves as an advisor on issues of self-government authority. Additionally, he is a former head of the Shevchenkivskyi District State Administration, appointed by former President Petro Poroshenko. In 2012, Haryaha ran for the Verkhovna Rada from the “UDAR” party but only secured the 41st position on the list, thus failing to win a seat. In local elections, he also aspired to become a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the same “UDAR” party but later withdrew his candidacy from the list.

“He is a well-known figure for those who follow Kyiv's politics and engage in anti-corruption investigations, as he has been the long-time head of the Shevchenkivskyi District. Under the patronage of Vitalii Volodymyrovych Klitschko — since the times when Klitschko had the authority to appoint all heads of the District State Administrations, based on an agreement with former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Essentially, Poroshenko completely handed over Kyiv to Klitschko's control. The collusion is evident,” says activist, veteran, and lawyer Oleg Symoroz.
