Fico: Ukraine will lose a third of its territory once Trump reaches an agreement with Putin.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico believes that as a result of negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Ukraine may lose a third of its territory.
Фицо: Украина утратит треть своей территории, если Трамп достигнет соглашения с Путиным.

He stated this during the program "Saturday Dialogues" on "Slovak Radio."

According to him, a peace agreement was already "on the table" in April 2022, but Ukraine did not sign it due to pressure from Western politicians and diplomats. Allegedly, they viewed the war as a tool to bring "Russia to its knees." Fico believes that Ukraine has allowed itself to be used.

Additionally, the Slovak Prime Minister opined that Ukraine will lose a third of its territory as a result of peace negotiations. He also added: "God bless Ukraine when Trump makes a deal with Putin."

"Was it worth itfour years of war, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands dead — this is a question that the citizens of Ukraine will have to answer soon,” Fico stated.

At the same time, Fico did not wish to comment on when the next meeting of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments would take place, although he noted that preparations are ongoing.

Recall that earlier, Slovakia's Defense Minister Robert Kalinak stated that Ukraine would have to give up part of its territory. The same opinion was expressed by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini.

What preceded this?

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump called on Russia to stop the war against Ukraine and to reach an agreement, threatening taxes, tariffs, and sanctions otherwise.

The press secretary of the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov, responded that Vladimir Putin is ready to contact the American president.

Putin also stated that he is willing to negotiate with Ukraine regarding the war. However, for this to happen, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must lift the ban on negotiations with the current Kremlin leader.

Furthermore, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko noted that his country will seek Ukraine's renunciation of NATO membership. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called such demands "complete nonsense".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Putin is ready to continue the war and intends to manipulate world leaders who want to achieve peace, including Trump.
