He stated this during a conversation with journalists.
“I spoke with Zelensky for a long time. And I believe that as long as we keep Western Europe united regarding Ukraine, there is a real chance that the Ukrainians will prevail,” said the U.S. president.
He added that the cost of Russia's participation in the war against Ukraine is “incredibly high.” Biden mentioned over 600,000 killed and wounded, and also referred to a “high level of mortality” among soldiers from North Korea.
According to him, he “made it clear” that as president, he provided all the necessary resources for Ukraine.
“And I know there are a significant number of Democrats and Republicans who believe we should continue supporting Ukraine, and I hope they will not agree with the president if Trump decides to halt funding for Ukraine,” Biden added.
He also commented on U.S. sanctions against major Russian oil companies, including “Gazprom Neft” and “Surgutneftegas.”
“Putin is currently in a difficult position. And I believe it is very important that he does not have the opportunity to rest, so he cannot continue to do terrible things,” the president stated.
