A man pretending to be a woman was apprehended on a train heading to the Polish city of Chełm
At the "Yahodyn" border checkpoint, border guards detained a 25-year-old resident of Kyiv region who was attempting to leave Ukraine while posing as a woman.
This was reported by the press service of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.
“During the processing of the train bound for Chełm, one of the passengers presented a passport document issued in the name of Ivanka, a Ukrainian citizen, to the border service inspector for verification. This raised suspicions among the border guards, as the individual appeared to resemble a man. To convince the border officers of her identity as a woman, she also provided a birth certificate, which allegedly had been reissued due to a name and gender change,” the report states.
However, during the verification, it became apparent that there was no medical certificate among Ivanka's documents confirming a change (correction) of gender. Ultimately, the passenger admitted that he was a man, had never undergone gender reassignment surgery, and had no intention of doing so.
The border guards informed the National Police about the signs of a criminal offense under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps). Additionally, the border guards compiled administrative materials against the man for attempting to breach the state border.
