Another channel for the illegal transportation of conscripts across the state border has been shut down by the migration police in collaboration with investigators from the capital's police department and SBU employees.
A 43-year-old resident of Kyiv region established an underground "marriage agency" that sought men of conscription age online, who were eager to evade mobilization, reports the Kyiv police communication department.
She offered potential "clients" to marry women with first or second group disabilities, enabling the conscripts to leave the country without obstacles. The service cost seven thousand US dollars, four thousand of which had to be paid upfront.
After the advance payment, the newlyweds would marry, register documents with a notary, and then travel together to one of the European countries. The investigation revealed that since April 2024, the suspect had facilitated the departure of two conscripts from Ukraine.
The police detained the organizer of the scheme and her 40-year-old accomplice immediately after leaving the notary's office, as they were preparing to transport a third "client" abroad. The man had already paid his "wife" 1500 dollars, with the remainder to be given after crossing the border.
Investigators have informed both suspects of their charges.
