On Wednesday, January 22, a March of Remembrance will take place in the capital in honor of the first fallen Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

This event, initiated by the Third Hundred of the Maidan Self-Defense, has been held annually since 2015.

“In these days in 2014, the first protesters were killed on the Maidan. In memory of them, a traditional march will take place in downtown Kyiv, where participants will light candles and lay flowers at the memorial plaques. Every year, the families of the fallen, Maidan activists, and concerned citizens walk the route from the Ljadsky Gates to Mykhailo Hrushevsky Street, honoring the memory of the deceased,” the post by the organizers states.

On January 22, 2014, 20-year-old Serhiy Nihoyan from Dnipropetrovsk, 45-year-old Lviv resident Roman Senyk, and 25-year-old Belarusian Mikhail Zhiznevsky were fatally wounded. That day, the body of the abducted Lviv resident Yuriy Verbytsky, showing signs of torture, was found near Kyiv. On January 28, Maidan activists Oleksandr Badera and Bohdan Kalyniak were lost.

You can join the event on January 22 at 18:00.

The gathering of participants will take place near the Ljadsky Gates.
