Heating providers cite an unusually cold November
Charges for heating in November 2024 have increased by 6.5 percent compared to last year.
This was reported during a briefing by the director of the Energy Supply Company of Kyivteploeenergo, Konstantin Lopatyn, as informed by RBK-Ukraine.
According to Lopatyn, the rise in heating bills is attributed to the colder weather: this year, the average monthly temperature in November in Kyiv was +2.7 degrees, compared to +4.1 degrees last year.
“The external air temperature is the primary factor that affects the heating bill,” explained the director of Energy Supply.
He noted that nearly 90 percent of apartment buildings in the capital are equipped with building heat meters. Therefore, residents pay for the actual amount of heat consumed by their building.
Lopatyn also added that in November this year, the average cost of heating per square meter was 24.35 UAH, while a year ago it was 6.5 percent lower at 22.9 UAH. At the same time, the cost of heating for the population in Kyiv has remained unchanged for the sixth consecutive year: the heating tariff remains at 1654.41 UAH/Gcal.
