The acquired jewelry was gifted by the accused to their friends and sold through advertisements
The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment to the court against three young men who defrauded an online jewelry store of 150,000 hryvnias.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The young men, aged 20 to 21, with higher education in computer technology, ordered jewelry from the official distributor's website of the "Pandora" brand, “reducing” the price.
“To do this, the accused indicated during online payment that they had certificates for a 50% discount. In reality, they fabricated the certificate numbers, thus deceiving the jewelry seller. The purchased jewelry was received by the 'buyers' via mail,” the prosecutor's office explained.
In this way, the IT specialists ordered jewelry worth over 150,000 hryvnias for themselves. They gifted the acquired jewelry to their friends and sold it through advertisements.
The prosecutor's office classified their actions as fraud committed through illegal operations using electronic computing technology during martial law (parts 3 and 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“All three young men admit their guilt and have partially compensated for the cost of the jewelry,” the prosecutor's office stated.
