Experts conducted a study
Only 3% of the total number of internally displaced persons currently living in Kyiv consider the possibility of returning home after the fighting ends. Meanwhile, 87% of the surveyed IDPs plan to remain in the capital.
These results were shared by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Marina Honda.
According to her, 75% of those surveyed belong to the age group of 18-60 years, while 23% are older than 60.
The research revealed that the majority of displaced persons arrived in Kyiv from Donetsk (52%), Kherson (21%), and Luhansk (12.6%) regions.
Among the main challenges facing IDPs are issues related to finances, employment, and housing. In particular, 34% of them are forced to cut back on food, while 33% have funds only for basic needs. At the same time, 84% require financial support, and 70% need humanitarian assistance. Only 64% of those surveyed are employed, and one in ten has faced rejection due to their IDP status. Regarding housing availability among the displaced, 82% are compelled to rent, and for nearly 90% of them, this constitutes a major expense.
Recall that an internally displaced person from Sievierodonetsk, Anastasia Muranova opened English language schools in Kyiv.
