Law enforcement officials have reported suspicions against a KCSA official who allowed the undervalued privatization of the pedestrian overpass at the Central Railway Station.

This was reported by the National Police press service.

The head of one of the KCSA departments signed a purchase agreement with a private entity for the covered pedestrian gallery extending from the station to the rapid tram tracks, in compliance with a court decision.

“At the same time, operatives from the Strategic Investigations Department in Kyiv, along with investigators from the Podil Police Department, have established that the commercial entity executed works valued at less than 25% of the total value of the property. Additionally, the figures in the acts of completed works by the contractor regarding their volumes and costs did not match the actual amounts. However, the company filed a lawsuit to exercise its right to privatization, and the court granted their claim,” said the National Police.

Meanwhile, the department head did not verify the compliance of the declared repairs with the privatization conditions nor did he file an appeal. As a result, municipal property was sold for a pittance, causing a loss of 63 million hryvnias to the city community.

Currently, the official has been notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code – official negligence. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years, with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.

“The suspect has been served with a motion for the imposition of a preventive measure. Efforts are ongoing to establish the full scope of individuals involved in the transaction concerning the alienation of municipal property,” law enforcement officials report.
