Ombudsman Lubyenets plans to address the Security Service of Ukraine regarding Professor Vasylenko.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, has prepared a statement to the Ministry of Education and Science regarding the comments made by Professor Mykyta Vasylenko from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Омбудсмен Лубінець планирует обратиться в СБУ по поводу профессора Василенко.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has prepared an appeal to the Ministry of Education and Science regarding the statements made by Professor Mykyta Vasylenko of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

Lubinets also intends to address the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

“Perhaps some were unaware, but the professor was involved in a scandal about a year ago, and our institute received a collective appeal from students regarding him. Following my response, the university held him accountable, and the professor received a reprimand,” – wrote Lubinets on Telegram.

Lubinets noted that this is the second time he is responding to the professor's remarks. According to him, he has sent letters to the Ministry of Education and Science to implement state oversight (control) over the institution's activities and to the university demanding a service investigation.

“I also see the need to appeal to the SBU,” the message states.

Lubinets emphasized that “the unethical behavior of the professor has crossed the line, and competent authorities must investigate and respond appropriately.”

According to the ombudsman, a video was circulated on social media last Monday in which Vasylenko expressed his opinion about Ukrainian women, causing public outrage.

Meanwhile, the student parliament of the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv has refused to cooperate with the administration until Vasylenko is dismissed. The reason for this is his scandalous statements.

“In connection with the systematic statements by the lecturer of the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Mykyta Kymovych Vasylenko, on pro-Russian platforms, sexist remarks, and the promotion of Russian narratives, the student parliament of the Institute of Journalism announces a boycott of the institute's administration,” the statement reads.

Students are also demanding an immediate response to the statement and protection for the academic community from the influence of individuals who discredit the journalistic profession and Ukraine's national interests.

“We emphasize that these are minimal measures that we are compelled to take. If the administration continues to ignore the students' opinions, we will be forced to escalate our actions. We urge the university leadership not to delay resolving this issue and to ensure adherence to state values, academic standards, and student rights,” the student parliament stated.

In the video on social media, Vasylenko spoke about “foreign peacekeepers” who supposedly would help improve the demographic situation in Ukraine. He made this statement during a broadcast on what is likely a pro-Russian YouTube channel hosted by Oleksandr Shelest, a former presenter of the banned Newsone channel, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.

“Can you imagine how this would resolve the demographic issue? At least forty thousand men, with money, hungry for women, who haven’t been tested by the front, but are raised on good European food. And hundreds of thousands of hungry Ukrainian women who haven’t managed to leave for various reasons, whose husbands are either dead in the war or wounded,” Vasylenko said.
