Analysts have calculated the amount of time spent by members of parliament on discussions in the Verkhovna Rada.
Over the five years of the IX convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, lawmakers have spoken more than 37,000 times to discuss legislative proposals from their seats and the podium, totaling almost 30 days of speaking time.
These findings are reported by RUKH CHESNO.
According to analysts, the highest number of speeches occurred in 2021, while the least time was spent on discussions in the first year of the full-scale invasion, when MPs made decisions quickly and without significant debates.
The voices of the “Servant of the People” faction were heard most frequently in parliament, collectively speaking for almost 145 hours over five years. In contrast, the least time was spent by members of the “Revival of Ukraine” parliamentary group, who spoke for just 16 hours.
In the personal ranking of the most talkative MPs, the former speaker of parliament, independent Dmitry Razumkov, holds an undeniable lead with a total speaking time of nearly 27 hours. In second place is MP Oleksiy Honcharenko from the “European Solidarity” party, who spoke for 25 hours over five years. Rounding out the top three is Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the “Fatherland” party, with nearly 24 hours.
As a reminder, over the past five years, there have been 16,902 votes in parliament, which amounts to 47 hours of continuous button pressing, based on the standard 10 seconds allocated for each vote.
