Themis has announced the decision

The Supreme Court of Ukraine has confirmed the legality of the decision made by the Northern Appeals Economic Court, which mandates that the public organization "Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments" must vacate the premises of building No. 19 of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This was reported by the press service of the Reserve.

“Finally, the Supreme Court has issued a final ruling in favor of the Reserve and has put an end to this matter. This means that the termination of the usage agreement was legal and just,” commented Ivan Prokopenko, head of the legal department of the Reserve, on the court's ruling.

It is important to note that the disputed building No. 19, which is a local architectural monument, is state-owned and is under the management of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra." Since 1996, the premises have been granted to UTOPIK for free use, but in April 2023, a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine canceled the decision to transfer the building to UTOPIK. However, despite this, representatives of the NGO refused to vacate the premises.

Let us remind you, the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" is starting preparatory work for the restoration of the large iconostasis of the Assumption Cathedral, as the sacred relic has sustained significant damage over the past 25 years.
