This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to preliminary data, Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down over 50 missiles and a "significant" number of drones.
However, there were hits, Zelensky confirmed. It is known that the occupiers targeted Ukraine's energy sector. Power outages have been reported in several regions, and energy workers are working to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
“Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas for the attack. What could be more inhumane? […] I thank everyone who is currently working for the country, who is on combat duty, who is defending our sky. We will restore as much as we can. Russian evil will not break Ukraine or mar Christmas,” Zelensky noted.
On the morning of December 25, Russian forces launched a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine. Explosions were heard in several regions, including Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Kryvyi Rih, and others. According to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of the cruise missiles even crossed the airspace of Moldova.
Currently, six people are reported injured in Kharkiv. Hits were recorded in the Saltivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Nemyshlianskyi districts of the city.
DTEK reported that the occupiers attacked the thermal power plants of the company, causing significant damage to the equipment.
This marks the thirteenth massive attack on Ukraine's energy sector this year and the tenth large-scale attack on the company's energy facilities. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK's thermal power plants have been shelled more than 200 times.
