In Sumy region, a Russian "Shahed" drone struck a dormitory, resulting in casualties including a child. (UPDATED)

Late in the evening on November 18, Russian forces targeted a high-rise building in Glukhov, Sumy region, using a drone strike. The building was a dormitory, and rescue efforts are still underway to find individuals trapped under the rubble.

Updated at 9:44. According to the State Emergency Service, the death toll has reached eight individuals. Meanwhile, the number of injured is 11, not 12, as stated by the OVA.

The dormitory building has been partially destroyed, and it is likely that five people are trapped under the rubble.

Updated at 8:33. President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video from the destroyed dormitory and clarified that the number of fatalities has reached seven.

As of this morning, six people are confirmed dead, including one child. Additionally, two other children have been injured. The total number of injured stands at 12.

Rescue operations at the site of the impact are ongoing. There may still be individuals trapped under the debris, and rescuers are currently searching for them.

In a video circulated by locals, the moment of impact on the dormitory in Hlukhiv is visible. First, the sound of a drone can be heard, followed by a loud explosion.

Previous shelling in Sumy region

At approximately 20:37 on November 17, Russian troops launched a missile strike on a densely populated residential area in Sumy. The strike damaged at least 10 high-rise buildings and vehicles.

As of the morning of November 18, the death toll stands at 11 people. It is known that among the deceased are children—a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. Furthermore, 68 individuals have been injured, including 10 children. A total of 105 people sought assistance at the tents of the State Emergency Service and the Red Cross.

Law enforcement officials have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war associated with deliberate murder—this falls under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
