The head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, reported this.
According to him, a total of 777 children have been evacuated from the most dangerous areas of the region.
He emphasized that the evacuation efforts for residents of the border areas are ongoing. The region has established transit centers where evacuees receive financial and humanitarian assistance. Specifically, a base has been created consisting of 200 houses in the rear communities of Sumy region, where people can relocate from the border areas.
Additionally, there are over 3,000 places available in central and western regions of Ukraine for settling residents from the hazardous territories of Sumy region.
“I always note that the majority of people remain within the borders of Sumy region, and we provide them assistance here as well. This is an important issue, and international organizations are helping us — they are building housing for internally displaced persons, and in the near future, we will open about 100 more such houses,” said Volodymyr Artiukh.
The head of Sumy region also shared information about the operational situation in the area. He mentioned that since the beginning of the year, the number of shellings has significantly increased compared to January and February of last year, with over 1,000 more incidents. Currently, the settlements most affected are in the Velykopysarivka, Yunakivka, and Seredyno-Buda communities.
“The enemy is employing new means of destruction to target energy infrastructure, gas supply facilities, and the homes of civilians,” Volodymyr Artiukh reported.
On the afternoon of February 11, the occupiers dropped two guided aerial bombs on the civilian infrastructure of the Krasnopillia community in the Sumy district. As a result of the attack, a 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were killed.
During the night of February 11 and in the morning, the Russians conducted 5 shellings of border territories and settlements in Sumy region. Five explosions were recorded. In particular, the Yunakivka, Khotyn, and Bilopillia communities were targeted.
