Scholz criticized Trump's idea of aiding Ukraine in exchange for minerals, calling it selfish.

The words of the German politician are reported by the German television channel n-tv.

According to Scholz, it would be “very selfish and very egocentric” to use Ukraine's resources to fund its defense while the war is ongoing.

“The focus should be on enabling Ukraine to finance its recovery. This is the main task, considering the immense destruction. Therefore, Ukraine's resources need to be utilized for funding everything necessary after the war,” Scholz believes.

Recall that earlier, Donald Trump stated that he wants to make an agreement with Kyiv, under which Ukraine would supply rare earth minerals needed for electronics to the United States in exchange for American aid.

It is noteworthy that President Volodymyr Zelensky, while presenting the Victory Plan in the Verkhovna Rada, stated that Ukraine is ready to offer strategic partners a special agreement for the joint protection of critical resources, joint investment, and the utilization of economic potential.

He noted that this concerns natural resources and critically important metals valued at trillions of US dollars. This includes uranium, titanium, lithium, graphite, and other strategically valuable resources, which provide a significant advantage in global competition, the head of the Ukrainian state emphasized.
